Progressive Automations
I built mine last year using a dual-column set from Progressive Automations. It’s been solid, even when I’ve got heavy gear or toolboxes on the surface. The motion’s smooth, and I like that it lifts evenly even if the weight isn’t totally centered. If you're still deciding, this 12v actuator https://www.progressiveautomations.com/collections/linear-actuators helped me find a set that matched my tabletop and load needs. Also, the wiring was pretty straightforward, even for someone not super techy like me.
I always find it funny how much a good workbench setup changes how productive I feel. When everything’s at the right height and solid under pressure, even boring tasks like sanding or sorting parts don’t feel like a chore. Definitely worth the effort to get that part right from the beginning.
I’ve been slowly putting together a height-adjustable workbench for my garage—mainly for woodworking and some light electronics repair. I need something that can handle a bit of weight and stay stable while I’m working with tools or soldering stuff. I’ve seen a few lifting column sets online but not sure what’s actually durable enough for real shop use. If anyone’s built something similar, what did you go with and how’s it holding up?
