Art Friends,

I joined the world of art of August 17, 2017 when the Lord retired me from a 37 year nursing career. He told me to paint and everything has changed since that time. I paint Christian art as well as more traditional work. Some of my work is used to bring attention to the need for transitional living services for women in Northeastern CT. I would like to find like minded people to help create a ground breaking facility for them.

My philosophy of life includes enjoying every moment and living in the now. Creating art releases my soul and frees me from the daily humdrum of life. I think less and become present in the moment, merging with my subject on a higher level. My interests vary considerably in all areas of life, especially art. Subjects for paintings exist everywhere. One of my favorite sayings is, "Do what you love and the money will follow." Acrylic works well for me because it dries quickly. The wide range of vivid colors appeals to me and it allows me to create thick texture like oil, or, by adding water or special mediums, I get a smooth, easy flowing softness like watercolor. I also like watercolor.
Since I tend to paint very fast, and often have several projects in the works at one time, I need the fast drying time. My original rendering of a subject can be done quickly. Then I refine and fiddle around with it. Sometimes it's best if I quit before the second stage, but I never know that until after the fact. Every painting represents a learning experience for me. Each painting I complete becomes an experience to remember and draw on at a later time, pun intended. I am currently experimenting with alcohol ink and I really enjoy it.

I had to share this tidbit about my baby girl!  She's 19 and wants to someday own her own cake shop.  Well, about a week ago she got hired at a local bakery called Crazy Cake Cafe, and today, she got to decorate a cake!  I think she did an awesome job!  Go Sammy!!!  The blue thing in the back says "It's a boy".  :-)

So, after seeing a couple paintings I did for Christmas presents, my sister requested I do one for her.  It's not a Sherpa image, but it does have some elements that she's covered!  I just love it, because of the bright, rainbow colors!  I'm a sucker for rainbows!  LOL

Here is the image she showed me.  This will be the first thing I've made for her.  I hope it turns out ok!  I think it's so cute with the little splashes coming off her boot!  LOL  I'll post a pic when it's finished.  :-)  Wish me luck!!

Hello Cinnamon and crew! I want to thank you so very much for sharing your great talent. You continually inspire me!
I first started painting in my early 20's (about 30 years ago!). But being a mother, wife, and income grabber, I had to put my love of Art on the back burner.
When I first started, Bob Ross was on AETN every Saturday! I would set up and paint along with him. I still have the 5 or 6 paintings I first did! I'll post a pic or two if you don't mind.
Then my focus turned to my growing family and their needs. I was a designer and woodworker for about 8 years when I had the opportunity to put my foot in the door to my childhood dream of being an "Ambulance person"! I started as the first female on the local fire dept. After about one year, the dept had a class to become first responders because of our rural and remote location. The instructor could see the passion in my eyes and offered to get me into an EMT course! I worked as an EMT for about 3 months realizing that an EMT was the ambulance driver. I wanted in the back, taking care of the sick and injured! It just so happened that a Paramedic course was about to be offered. And it was no ordinary course. A normal course would take 2 years to complete. This course was an intense training course that would complete in only 9 months! I was so excited because that's the kind of learner I am. We started the course with 36 students and at the finish line, there were only 6 of us left, 5 guys and myself! I retired after 12 years of service, not by choice but due to injuries and illness. It was the most exciting and rewarding career! I still miss it and my heart skips a beat every time I hear the siren. Anyway.... had to share a bit of my history!
I went back to college at age 48 to attempt a degree in psychology and ended up majoring in art...BFA in Ceramics with a psych minor. Unfortunate events in my health forced me to drop out with only 2 semesters to complete. At first, I was devastated. And then someone said to me... "Most artists don't have degrees." and then I got my passion on!
Thanks for adding me and taking the time to learn a bit about me!
