Today is a struggle. The pears are haunting me. I am trying to get to them and paint them, but they are lurking every where. Art person inside me - HELP!!!
I am new to this and clueless as to what to say. So I will start with this:
I am a 56 year-old lady originally from Florida, currently living in Biloxi, MS. Piano and clarinet (music) was a large part of my childhood until my 34 year-old mom died of leukemia. Being 14 years old and the oldest of 4 children, I became "mom" sort of. I have had a desire to paint for years but just didn't know where to start, with absolutely no education in painting.
Something devastating occurred in our family in March 2016. My 36 year-old brother went missing from the Pensacola, Florida area. After weeks of searches, investigative interviews, flyers, posters, etc., I finally returned to my home in Biloxi, Mississippi. My emotion needed to find it's place - and with the support of a dear friend and discovery of Ginger Cook and The Art Sherpa, which I love and learn from, and inspiration from Monet, painting is happening in my home now. Daily painting. I will try to upload some examples of my kindergarten/beginner paintings.
Hi! My name is Shannon and I rejoined from the other site, but I hadn't really been active there. I'm so glad to hear this is expected to be a busy place! I'd love to make some new art buddies and become part of this beautiful community!
Just a little bit about me... I am 48 years old, I've lived in WV my whole life, I'm married (for the second time), and I have 3 beautiful daughters (27, 25, and 18), and 4 adorable grandbabies (girl age 5, and boys 3, 2, and 3 months)! I've had 3 back surgeries, with a total of 6 disks replaced and cages put in, but unfortunately, I still suffer from chronic back and neck pain. I've asked my doctor about doing a full spinal replacement, but he just gives me "the eye". LOL
Around the year 2001 I started making things with polymer clay, and I did that pretty steady for several years, until the surgeries started, and I kinda got in a funk, and didn't create much. I'd like to share a few photos of my things, just so you can get an idea of what I did. But now, I want to try painting, and I am so excited there are people like Cinnamon, well there's no one like Cinnamon LOL, who share their knowledge and give tutorials, so people can enjoy the art world, no matter where they are! I really appreciate all the work and time that everyone involved puts into the tutes on Youtube!
So here are a few of my creations!

I hope to be adding some painting photos soon!
Please feel free to message me, or add me on Facebook (www.facebook.com/wvclaylady)! If you do that, though, please let me know you're a fellow Sherpette so I can stick you in the right group! :-)
Have a wonderful day!
Hello everyone, just finished my pear tonight. Will be working on Art Quest #2. I hope to get to know some of you. See you soon.
Hello, I'm new to this wonderful group, having so much fun. I just started painting a couple of months ago thanks to all the wonderful teachers on YouTube. I am gravitating toward our ArtSherpa the lovely Cinnamon and hubby John, loving the style of teaching and painting very much. I just started the art quest tonight, looking forward to painting my pears. I will do my best to catch up to everyone.
