C alligraphy Style Arabesque Stroke . I just want to touch base on this technique. Our lines are S curves and arabesques-like brush strokes . The pressure of your brush releases on the stroke feather in the end in creating delicate moments. Like the distinctive ‘thick-and-thin’ look of the brush strokes. The width of the brush creates your thick lines and the edge of the brush your thin strokes. Beginning Strokes on an angle and letting the brush create flowing thick and thin lines through curves creates this fun but challenging effect. This is best done with a bright or angle brush. Use light pressure and keep the toe of your brush gently touching the canvas (tip) try not to lean heavily on your hand, wrist, forearm or elbow . Practice this before you begin Step 2, as the control over how hard you're pressing into the brush and the balance of how dry the paint is, is also key to the success of the fire effect.
GRIDDING OR TRACING
On your 8 by 8 canvas you will make a mark using your chalk tool and a t square ruler at every inch point using the guide draw lines horizontally and vertically this way. The t-square will help ensure that your lines are straight.

- the number the left row of squares number 1 through 8 from top to bottom
- find the first row that the contour line of your image enters and exits. duplicate only what you see in that one single Square.
- continue through the entire image Square by square transferring the contour lines of the subject with chalk on your canvas.
- when you have duplicated the subject from your reference to your canvas you will be done
