About me and my Acrylic painting adventures

By Philly The painter, 2021-07-30

Hello, there I hope this finds everyone doing well and feeling healthy. I wanted to start by saying that I am currently a college student going to be an RN and then go on for my BSN. I began my painting adventure while in college. They brought someone in on Zoom to paint with us and that is what piqued my interest very much in painting with acrylic. I learned some of the basics and then I was scrolling through YouTube and came across Cinnamon's Video about how to paint with acrylics. As soon as I watched that I was hooked. I wanted to learn more. I dove in brush and canvas first. I ran to my art supply store and spent a lot on paints and brushes but was blind until I began to watch more of her videos. I began watching all her how-to videos and have said she has helped me create my pearls of wisdom necklace. I then dove in and began painting and enjoy it so much. She has taught me so much about different techniques and little how-to's that I am so grateful to her. I have painted the "Tiny Secret Whispers" painting. Now I want to paint it on a stretched canvas much bigger. That is when I also began learning about different kinds of paint and brushes as well. I am becoming a great fan of Golden paints. I have learned that I need a bigger stay-wet palette. The thing is the person that was helping in the store did not take me seriously but I have learned more from Cinnamon and I appreciate it all. I will be getting a bigger stay-wet palette. I have also since bought palette paper as well. Another pearl to add to the necklace. So I began painting and then it happened.
I was driving and a dog and person ran out in front of my car and instead of hitting them, I, in turn, hit a house. I broke my breastbone and left wrist and left kneecap. I was in the trauma unit of the hospital. When I came home I had to inform my Professors about what happened and then I may have had to tape down my canvas at times but I continued to paint with my good hand. Cinnamon and John got me through the pain and hardship of that terrible accident. I was watching them on YouTube even when I could not paint. I got my strength through them and I thank them for that. As I have stated that sunshine just flows from her through YouTube and it has helped me greatly in my time of crisis. I am all healed now finally and ready to go back in the fall.
I also wanted to thank Cinnamon for coming up with the concept for the mini-book idea. For it is nice to watch her and then when you want to paint something I can sit in my Goldilocks zone and let my paint flow from my brushes onto the canvas. I hope she keeps up that great idea. It is good for when you want to sit in quiet and paint and let your imagination flow. I also wanted to give a big shout-out to John for he does great video angles and love to hear him talk while she is blow drying her painting. I do hope she comes up with more mini-books.
A little about me. My favorite color is purple and I love to listen and sing to the music on Spotify. I am currently in a fifteen-year relationship with my significant other/life partner. We love to travel and have taken many cruises before Covid hit. My favorite one was the Panama Canal. Two weeks of joyful bliss. We also took a New Years Cruise and in the back of my mind, I thought if this would go down I would pull a "Shelly Winters" and say head to the engine room. The funny thing is the first morning of our cruise we were woken up over the loudspeaker that there was a fire in the kitchen. My partner said "Let it burn" and fell back to sleep and I was thinking well should we be getting up or what. But they finally after about fifteen minutes came back and said the fire was out. I am a very personable person and love to meet new people. If you would happen to see me please say hi to me.
As I wrap this up I wanted to thank again Cinnamon and John for helping me build my pearl of wisdom necklace. She is so knowledgeable about art. I am currently reading the book that she recommends about the history of color. I actually got mine in a box at the art supply store it was in a free box and grabbed it and have learned a lot about color. It is a fabulous read. Thank you for reading my blog and getting to know me a bit. Again my brushes and canvas's thank Cinnamon for all she has done for us. She is such a great person and cares about so many of us. It is nice to know that. I want to also paint there "Love Tree" as well. I did watch their wedding video and I thought it was so beautiful and you can still see that love today when you see them together.  Please stay safe out there and stay healthy. I do want to meet you but not as an RN in the hospital. I can think of a lot of better ways to meet. Artsy Hugs and paintbrush dreams and I hope to see you at a canvas real soon. With much care to you all. Your friend Phil.
