This is what happens when inanimate objects try to tell me not to paint! hehe (Disclaimer: The reasons they tell you not to paint smoke detectors are because any modification whatsoever technically could void the certification, they don't want you to get paint in any of the vents, and some paints give off VOC's which in theory could set the detector off. Also, if your home insurance wanted to be snarky, they could deny a fire claim because of a 'modified' detector... just FYI cuz I don't wanna get in trouble for starting something LOL)
