The flip side of my Gaudy Hamlet is what happens when tiny communities (called Outports) are abandoned. The government has encouraged urbanization over the last 60 years and many places were resettled. Sometimes homes were floated across bays, or taken down and rebuilt. But most often they were abandoned, to be taken back by nature.
