Finally, some brushes that let me drag a bead of paint. I can't even believe I just said drag a bead of paint. What is the word... PULL. PULL a bead of paint? Next week, when I go to the appointment in Valdosta, I will stop at Michael's and try to find some other sizes, but these will work for now.
Those gridlines? I am going to do a huge chart of tints, and maybe tints and shades, and maybe even tints and shades and tones.
See that color wheel? It's my first ever color wheel. Yes, I've seen them before but I had no idea why they were important and no way was I going to spend a nickel on a thing that didn't make sense to me. But after today's #BigArtQuest on 50 Shades of Gray I just had to have one. I can't wait to study it and play with compliments. Maybe the tones I create will be BLACK-FREE tones... just built up from compliments as per the wheel.
This class and community is giving me a very important feeling of purpose these days. It's so hard being new at the age of 57. I don't know anyone here besides my doctors and my husband... I've met a few people who I would like to get to know, but these things take time and the sucky thing about moving so far away is that it still takes just as long to go through the process. For me, that is a long, and I mean painfully long, time. I've been painting and drawing on my own for so long, and stumbling across Cinnamon and John's Art Sherpa youtube channel was a miracle for me. I can turn it on every day and there they are, beaming with joy for what they do, giving to all of us out here in cyberland, and just so delightful. Watching takes the sting out of being lonely for a little while. Then I take what I'm learning and put it into action on my easel. There isn't any way in the world I could possibly repay them for what they are doing to help me right now, without even knowing it. And the community is great - such interesting and kind people over here in Art Sherpa Land.
